Presidency Pegs January 1 As Commencement Date For Implementation Of 2017 Budget

SAN FRANCISCO, October 22, (THEWILL) – The Presidency on Friday assured that the Muhammadu Buhari administration will begin the implementation of the 2017 Budget on January 1, adding that the process to ensure that the implementation takes off smoothly was in progress.

The Senior Special Assistant to the President on National Assembly matters (Senate), Senator Ita Enang made this disclosure to newsmen, stating that as a prelude to the presentation of the 2017 Appropriation Bill, the President has already forwarded the 2017, 2018 and 2019 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper, MTEF & FSP to the National Assembly for consideration and subsequent approval.

In the document, the President projected a total budget of N6,866,335,052,740 for the 2017 fiscal year.

Enang stated that the federal government was working hard to provide food, employment and security.

The presidential aide went on to commend the Senate for the speedy consideration given to correspondences from the President.

“The dexterity, speed, thorough attention, legal touch and expertise deployed by senate and its committees in considering and handling matters of the executive is worth commendations,” he stated.
