The Niger State Computerised Vehicle Inspection Centre Part 1

The Niger State Computerized Vehicle Inspection Services is the inspection arm of the Motor Vehicle Administration also known as Vehicle Inspection Officer popularly known as the VIO, under the Niger State Ministry of works and transport with a mandate to conduct statutory inspection for all vehicles plying Niger State roads in the bid to certify them road worthy.

The Niger State VIO with a slogan “Pioneering Vehicle Inspection for Safety” is indeed bringing services to our door steps via technology. The centre’s activities are aimed at reducing accident, reduction of toxic vehicular emission, and promotion of road safety, increase in internally generated revenue (IGR), which is one of Governor Abubakar Sani Bello’s major concern and above all, the centre will create employment opportunity for teeming Nigerlites among others.

The Motor Vehicle Administration also known as VIO is constitutionally empowered among other things to carry out the following responsibilities ; periodic inspection to determine the roadworthiness of a motor vehicle and to issue roadworthiness certificate for both public and private drivers.

The Motor Vehicle Administration under the Ministry of Works and Transport in Niger state has the mandate to perform the above Motor Vehicle Administration (MVA) functions via Niger state Road Transport /Traffic Regulations as Gazetted in the Official Gazette №.08 of 14th March, 2012, Vol.16.

Major among these MVA duties is inspection of vehicle to ensure that all vehicles on Niger state roads are roadworthy. The department commenced Computerized Periodical Testing Inspection in Minna, Niger State Capital since 25th day of July, 2016 while centres at Suleja, Kontagora and Bida are almost complited for the same purpose.

The Centre is therefore obliged to formally and respectfully communicate to you and explain the imperatives of computerized vehicle inspection in order to ensure safety of all road users in the Niger State.
