Nyako, Son, Stripped Of Traditional Titles In Adamawa
BEVERLY HILLS, October 14, (THEWILL) – The paramount traditional ruler in Adamawa state, Muhammad Mustafa, has stripped a former governor of the state, Murtala Nyako, and his son, Abdul'Aziz Nyako, of their traditional titles of Sarkin Yamma, and Sarkin Matasa respectively.
The former governor was also stripped of his membership of the The Adamawa Emirate council.
According to a statement signed by the Lamido Adamawa, he revealed that the decision was necessary because both Nyako's have been indicted by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) and arraigned before a court of law for alleged corruption.
THEWILL recalls that Nyako was impeached by the state House of Assembly in 2014, an action declared illegal by the Court of Appeal which did not, however, order for his reinstatement.
Nyako is presently in the Supreme Court seeking his reinstatement to enable him complete his tenure after his impeachment was quashed by the Appellate court.
The Court has fixed December 16 for judgment after listening to final arguments by lawyers representing parties in the appeal.
