Rangers Win Npfl After 32 Years

SAN FRANCISCO, October 03, (THEWILL) – Rangers of Enugu have won the 2016 Nigeria Professional Football League, after 32 years, on the last day of the season as it defeated El-Kanemi Warriors 4-0 on Sunday , in Enugu.

A hat trick of goals by Chisom Egbuchulam and another goal by Osas Okoro gave Rangers the much needed three points with two spot kicks in each half of the game.

Some of the dignitaries present at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium were the deputy senate president, Ike Ekweremadu, Senator Obinna Ogba and some players of the club that won the last trophy 32 years ago who were honoured at half time of the game.

Similarly, there was wild jubilation at Agege Township Stadium as Lagos-based MFM escaped relegation after beating Ifeanyi Uba 1-0.

The match was won through a 23rd minute strike by Stanley Okoro who dedicated it to the fans that were jubilant at the sound of the final whistle, singing praises of their darling club.
