By Jumia Travel

Accra, Ghana, 27 September 2016: To celebrate the World Tourism Day, Africa’s leading online hotel booking company Jumia Travel, has announced the activation of 1000 hotels, guesthouses and apartments on their portal in Ghana. This landmark achievement gives travelers and tourists to and within Ghana a wide range of affordable but comfortable accommodation options.

This expansion has been engineered to better serve the local needs of Ghanaian travelers around the country, as well as serve incoming tourists and travelers who frequent the country. ’’Reaching the 1000 mark reiterates our stand as Africa’s leading online hotel booking website with the largest inventory of Hotels . With hotels in all 10 regions of the country at very affordable rates, the headache of not finding a suitable accommodation is eliminated,’’ said Claire Staal, MD of Jumia Travel (GH).

Although hotel booking is the heart of business of this immaculate online portal, the company has further established itself as a travel expert with the addition of travel packages including flights, weekend trips and holiday packages. This extra service launches initially in Nigeria and Kenya and is soon expected to roll out in Ghana as well as in all other African countries. According to Paul Midy, Jumia Travel’s CEO, “the move is part of the company’s initiative to promote domestic tourism in Africa, as we approach the peak season”. He added that “this will therefore be quite ideal for families, couples, group of friends and even corporate groups vacationing in the months of August to December”.

Last minute plans will also be well catered for due to the flexibility offered by the packages; for instance, by either directly calling Jumia Travel’s Customer Service or by filling in a simple query form, the team will be able to organize for transport and/or accommodation at the same time, easing the hassle of travel and most importantly giving customers a memorable vacation experience.

The company that now boasts the largest inventory of hotels in Africa plans to run the promotion on a yearly basis; while regularly updating the packages on the respective Jumia Travel’s country websites.

Speaking at the #JumiaTravelDay event in Accra to mark this year’s World Tourism Day 2016, the Public Relations Manager of Jumia Travel Ghana, Mr. Bennet Otoo said ‘’After rebranding, we have grown to bigger heights with over 1000% increase in website visits and an increase in web application usage. Having 1000 hotel options for travelers in Ghana is an enviable feat and we are happy to serve travelers the world over, who wish to visit the country with affordable but comfortable accommodation throughout the country.”
