Lil Wayne said he will no longer work with Birdman and denied recent retirement rumors during an interview on FS1’s Undisputed.

The interview began with a discussion about the rapper’s song, “No Mercy,” which is the Undisputed theme song. The conversation quickly turned to Weezy’s recent tweet, “I AM NOW DEFENSELESS AND mentally DEFEATED & I leave gracefully and thankful I luh my fanz but I’m dun.”

Wayne explained that he posted the tweet after an argument, but wouldn’t offer any specifics other than that it pertained to business. The rapper remains embroiled in a legal battle with Birdman and Cash Money after filing a $51 million lawsuit in 2015 that claimed the label withheld money related to his still-unreleased album Tha Carter V (Wayne also recently sued Cash Money’s distributer, Universal Music Group, over unpaid royalties).

“I have a family, I have kids, I have a mother and we’ve got bills,” Wayne said. “And this is business. Once the business is right, then everything is right. So I did feel that way, and I didn’t take the tweet down because I still feel that way, and until something is done about it, then maybe it’ll change.”

Co-host Shannon Sharpe then asked Lil Wayne if he would work with Birdman again if their legal matters were settled, and the MC replied, “No sir.” He added, “Gimme mine, and I’ll walk off free, smiling.”

Wayne also expressed gratitude for the outpouring of support that came from the hip-hop community after he posted his distressed tweet. While Weezy noted that messages he received from artists he’s close with, like Drake, were welcomed, if not expected, he added, “The artists that I don’t know that tweeted and came out like that, like Kendrick Lamar and people like that … Young Thug, there was other people, I was like, ‘Wow, I didn’t know.’ It mattered.”
