Nigerians Voted Massively For Buhari; No Single Person Can Claim That Glory – Obasanjo
SAN FRANCISCO, August 24, (THEWILL) – Former Nigerian president, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has denied insinuating that he was among the group of persons who made it possible for President Muhammadu Buhari to be voted into office, asserting that Nigerians voted overwhelmingly for the President in 2015.
Speaking on Tuesday during a visit to the Taraba state house in Jalingo, the former president held that no single individual or a group of persons can take credit for his present successor's electoral success.
His words, “I never made such claims.”
“It is inconsiderate of any single person or group to claim the glory. I am astounded by media reports quoting me as saying that I and few other persons brought President Buhari to power to save Nigeria.
“I have never said that, because it is not true. Nigerians voted overwhelmingly for the President and we are all witnesses to that fact. No single person or group can claim that glory.”
