We Will Encourage Investors In Agribusiness To Adamawa—Obasanjo

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo said that he would assist the Adamawa government by inviting investors in agribusiness in the state.

Obasanjo made this known at the Government House in Yola during his visit to Adamawa.

Daily Times reports reports that Obasanjo was received by Gov. Jibrilla Bindow of Adamawa at the airport and proceeded to the Presidential lodge located in the government house.

He advised the state government to put more efforts in agriculture adding that the sector would eradicate poverty as well as bring industrialization to the state.

``Your emphasis on agriculture gave me pleasure and if agriculture is taken serious in this state, it will eradicate poverty.

``If you can provide a conducive atmosphere, people will want to come and invest in agribusiness.

``We will encourage those who are interested to invest in agribusiness to come to Adamawa and invest.

``Agriculture will not only be useful as a security too but as part of the industrialization of the state, and as such will make the economy of this state more viable.’’

The former president said that the situation in the North east was an issue of concern to him.

He commended President Muhammadu Buhari for showing understanding to the security situation in the region.

He commended Bindow for not been subdued by the myriad of challenges confronting the state.

He also commended the governor for not only limiting his vision to the state alone but the entire North east.

``I will commend the President for showing understanding to the situation of the north east.

``To us, the issue of the north east is special even when Mr President and I are discussing it always form central of our discussion.

``I must commend the unique leadership vision of the governor especially as he did not only focus on Adamawa but extent his vision to the entire north east geopolitical region.’’

Earlier, Gov. Bindow sought the assistance of the former president in addressing the challenges in the state.

He said that the state had faced the challenge of insecurity in the past which has ravaged the socio economic fortunes of the state.

He commended president Buhari for giving special focus on security, which has made the state to be peaceful now.

He however said that his administration had completed 47 road projects in the face of all the challenges.

He also said that the team work adopted by his administration has yielded the positive result.

He said that his administration would continue to emulate the work supervision strategy of the former leader.
