JONATHAN VISITS BUHARI, BRIEFS HIM ON NIGER DELTA ISSUES, FOREIGN ENGAGEMENTS

Former President Goodluck Jonathan had a closed door meeting with

President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock villa, Abuja. You Jonathan reportedly arrive the villa at 2 pm Wednesday, after the president presided over a Federal Executive Council meeting.

The former President did not answer questions on the ongoing

anti-corruption war of the present administration which has led to the

investigation and prosecution of many of his aides.

During an interview with State House correspondents after he met with

President Buhari behind closed doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja,

Jonathan said it would not be appropriate for him to speak on the matter

because many of the cases were pending in court.
He however said the meeting which lasted less than 20 minutes afforded him

the opportunity of briefing Buhari of his recent international engagements

and future ones.
On the renewed violence in the Niger Delta, Jonathan said it was

appropriate for him and traditional rulers in the area to mediate in the

matter.
