Courtesy visit: Be close to God – Gov. Ugwuanyi tells NANS leaders

Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has advised leaders of student associations in the country to always put God first in all their endeavours in order to attain their aspirations as leaders of tomorrow .

Gov. Ugwuanyi gave the advice when he played host to the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Enugu State Chapter, who were at the Government House, Enugu, on a courtesy visit.

He urged them to imbibe the spirit of justice, peace, fairness, transparency and selfless service in the discharge of their responsibilities, saying that his administration will partner them in the areas of education and security.

The governor noted that students are an integral part of the socio-economic and political development of the country, adding that their strength cannot be ignored in the society.

While charging the student leaders to remain steadfast and focused in their vision to lay a solid foundation for greatness, the governor urged them to accommodate the interests of other students in order to promote peace and make progress.

In his opening remarks, the Chairman of the Joint Campus Committee of NANS in Enugu State, Comrade Chidi Ilogede, thanked the governor for his humble disposition, peace initiatives and unprecedented development strides in the state despite the present economic challenges in the country.

He disclosed that the visit of the association was informed by the need to identify and seek ways of partnering the government to improve on education and security in the state for the overall benefit of the people.

Ilogede, who pledged the association's support for the governor's programmes and policies in the state, especially in the areas of education, youth empowerment and infrastructural development, assured Ugwuanyi of their continuous prayers for the success of his administration.

'NANS, which is saddled with the responsibility of protecting the interest of all the students in the country, wishes to express its desire to partner your administration in the promotion of educational values, security and peace in the state', the Ilogede said.
