Campus Diary On 30th, July 2016: Ibbul’s Macosa Constitutes, Inaugurates 2016 Electoral Committee

The Mass Communication Department, MACOSA of Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida University, Lapai has on Wednesday Constituted and Inaugurated a eight man committee to drive and forsee the 2016 departmental elections coming up in July 2016. The committee which comprises of 2 representatives drawn from each Level of the department is to be chaired by Paul Adama, a 400 Level Student of the Department.

Administering the oath of office on the committee, the speaker of MACOSA STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE, Opeyemi Adesokan charged the committee to discharge their duties diligently so as not to betray the trust and confidence of their respective Levels while warning that, any member of the committee caught in the web of variances with the Oath and constitutional jurisdictions of the Association will be dealt with accordingly.

Miss Adesokan informed the congress about the MACOSA Constitutional Requirements that a contestant must meet to seek for any position in the Executive and Legislative Council of the Association. She noted as provided by the CONSTITUTION of MACOSA in ARTICLE 1, SECTION 1 ; which is the SUPREMACY OF THE CONSTITUTION and read thus ; “This Constitution is supreme and its provision shall have bonding face on all members, elected and appointed officers of the association.

She spoke further by quoting ARTICLE 8, SECTION 2 of the CONSTITUTION which is the REQUIREMENT FOR CANDIDATE INTO EXECUTIVE COUNCIL and read thus ; “Candidates aspiring for the post of the President, Vice President, Speaker and the Secretary General must attain the CGPA of 3.00 and above while other candidates must not be less than 2.50 without any carryover”

Miss Adesokan then used the medium to enjoined contestants that do not meet up with the MACOSA CONSTITUTIONAL REQUIREMENTS of seeking positions in both the Executive and Legislative Councils “to channel their strength and resources towards their academic development as it is the primary reason of being on campus” According to her, the Association will always be but a student can’t remain forever in the Department.

Responding on behalf of the ELCOM COMMITTEE, the Chairman, Paul Adama thanked their respective levels for finding them worthy in character to serve in such a critical committee while re-echoing their readiness and willingness to discharge their duties with extreme discipline, decorum and absolute respect to the SUPREMACY OF MACOSA CONSTITUTION.

The Departmental Elections of IBBUL’s MACOSA, the Campus Diarist gathered, will be coming up shortly after the forth coming weeklong 2016 PRESS WEEK slated to commence from Monday, 11th July to end on Saturday, 16th July, 2016.
