Ojo Maduekwe, dies at 71

A former Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief Ojo Maduekwe, is dead.

Another report has it that Maduekwe, collapsed at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja shortly after arriving from the United States of America where he had gone to attend a relative’s graduation ceremony.

Maduekwe, a prominent member of the Peoples Democratic Party, also at one time served as the Minister of Transport for the country.

He was born May 6, 1945 in Abia State. Madueke was appointed Minister of Culture and Tourism by former President Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999.

He later became Minister of Transport in 2001. He was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs on July 26, 2007 by late President Umaru Yar’Adua.
