NBA Owerri Set To Elect New Exco
On Saturday, 11th of April 2016, members of the Owerri Branch of Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) will be electing new executives that will pilot the affairs of the branch for the next two years.
According the Chairman of the Electoral Committee of the branch Barr. Okey Ehieze, there is no contest for the position of the chairman owing to the disqualification of one of the earlier contenders. This therefore leaves Barr. Lawrence Nwakaeti as the sole chairmanship hopeful in the race.
Other uncontested positions and their candidates include, Mr. Eke Onyeforo Publicity Secretary, Mazi Udegbulam Legal Adviser, Kingsley Ehujuo Assistant Secretary and K. A. Leweanya for social Secretary.
Barr. Ehieze also intimated that positions to be contested are Secretary, Vice Chairman and Financial Secretary.
So far, two people Mrs. F. N. Otuokere and Mr. M. M. Agbasi are for the post of Vice-chairman, Mr. J.S.C. Osuegbu, C. E. Anyanwu and Ngozi Ihiekwe are gunning for Financial Secretary while the current Publicity Secretary of the branch, Ndidi Anike is to battle the post of Secretary with the incumbent Financial Secretary Mr. Ishmael Nkwocha.
Ironically, as at the time of this report, there is no contestant for the position of provost of the branch.
Nevertheless, the election will start from 1p.m at the Bar Center located inside the High Court premises Owerri on the scheduled date.
