The recent calls by the National Coordinator of Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation (MBLF), Alhaji Sani Bello Maikusa and his group has been described as "hate speech" capable of fuelling stronger agitation for the break up of Nigeria.

South-SOUTH Media Director of Grassroots Mobilizers for Buhari (GMB), Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe in a statement berated Alhaji Sani Bello Maikusa on the grounds that the vast majority of the people of the South-South geopolitical zone disassociated themselves from the activities of the Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) because of the inestimable negative effects of the bombings and Wanton destruction of oil installations and pipelines.

He posited that the unity of Nigeria is only guaranteed if the various components work together in harmony with mutual respect for one another, adding that GAB South -South strongly believe that the position canvassed by Alhaji Maikusa and his group does not represent the general opinions of the good people of Northern Nigeria.

The statement further added:
"We know the good intentions of President Muhammadu Buhari for this country which is to rebuild a new united Nigeria where every citizen of this country will enjoy the wealth of the Nation.

"Therefore, the call for suspension of food and agricultural products supply to the Southern part of Nigeria, does not reflect the patriotic spirit exhibited so far by our amiable President who is currently doing the needful to salvage the nation's economy.

"It is a truism that governors of the South-South region irrespective of political divide condemned the act of economic sabotage and depletion of our national income as a result of the massive bombings and vandalization of oil installations.

"It is also in the public domain that elder statesmen and ethnic groups in the region via the mass media openly condemned the bombings and vandalization of oil installations; to the effect that it will be unreasonable and justifiable for any right thinking Nigerian or group of people to add fuel to the already inflamed crisis by calling for suspension of food and agricultural products supply to the region.

"We therefore call on the presidency to make a categorical statement disassociating itself, President Buhari and the federal government from the position canvassed by members and Coordinator of the Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation."

GMB South-South also wishes to use this medium to call on the leadership of the Muhammadu Buhari Legacy Foundation, a sister organization, to retract the "hate speech" and apologize through the mass media to the good people of southern Nigeria, the statement added.
