BEVERLY HILLS, May 17, (THEWILL) – President of the United States, U.S, Mr. Barack Obama is considering a state visit to Nigeria this July in a trip that will likely be his last to Africa as the U.S President.

This was contained in a report in the New York Times on Sunday, which suggests that the U.S. military may have started reconciling with Nigeria to fight Boko Haram after years of distrust.

According to the publication, Washington has expressed its readiness to sell up to 12 light attack aircraft to Nigeria as part of efforts to support Nigeria's fight against the Boko Haram terror group.

Obama, who will be completing his maximum two terms of four years by next year, has made a number of visits to African countries, leaving Nigeria off his itinerary.

In his last trip to the continent last year, the American president visited his ancestral home of Kenya, and the Africa Union, AU headquarters in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
