SAN FRANCISCO, May 11, (THEWILL) – The warrant obtained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) from a court in Abuja will allow the anti-graft agency remand Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, the Director of Publicity of the 2015 presidential campaign organization of former President Goodluck Jonathan, in custody for at least two weeks and can be extended if necessary.

The outspoken politician is being held for receiving over N840 million to run the campaign from funds believed to have been diverted from monies meant for the purchase of arms for the military in the war against Boko Haram terrorists.

An EFCC source said there are other allegations against the politician that it is being investigated as well.

THEWILL can report that Fani-Kayode had openly acknowledged receiving at least N840 million but said he was told it came from private sources. The campaign's director of finance delivered the funds.

The EFCC has made several arrests in a bid to recover at least $2 billion approved for the purchase of arms but believed to have been diverted and stolen.

THEWILL also understands that all accounts held by Mr. Fani-Kayode in Nigerian banks have been frozen.
