BEVERLY HILLS, May 10, (THEWILL) – In an apparent reaction to the controversies surrounding the numerous campaign promises that have been attributed to him after assuming power, President Muhammadu Buhari has come clean on what he actually promised Nigerians during the campaigns for the 2015 presidential election.

Buhari, who was speaking on Tuesday at the Katsina State Economic and Investment Summit, identified what he actually promised to fulfill if voted into office, assuring that “I hold myself to this promise.”

Revealing his exact campaign promises, he said: “at the presidential primaries last year, I promised and I quote, 'I will bring all the resources to end poverty through ending corruption, ensure economic growth investing in our country and creating jobs.'”

The President further revealed that he settled for Pastor Tunde Bakare of Latter Rain Assembly as his running mate in the 2011 presidential election in order to “shut up” those who labeled him a religious fanatic.

He explained that the move was made to prove wrong those who saw him as a religious bigot at the time.

His words, “one of the four attempts to get here was with Tunde Bakare, when people said I'm a religious bigot, I decided to take a pastor so that I can shut their mouths up.

“So, Tunde Bakare has decided to be with me all the time.”
