APLSCD Celebrates Father's Sunday At St Joseph Catholic Parish Ekwulobia, Empowers Her Members

It was pomp and glamour today at St Joseph Catholic Parish Ekwulobia, as Association of People Living with Sickle Cell Disorder celebrated this year's Fathers Sunday with the parishioners.

The Association led by her Coordinator, Aisha Edwards continued her sensitisation campaign today at St Joseph, where they joined the Fathers in thanksgiving for God's numerous wonders in their lives.

Aisha Edwards used the opportunity to appreciate the efforts of the leadership of the church who have provided a venue for their meetings without charging them, she described their visit to the Parish as a visit to their home, since the Parish has played vital roles of hospitality for the Association.

She further urged parents not to force their children into marriages without considering the compatibility of their Genotypes, and admonished intending couples to desist from the illicit games of forging certificates, but rather to ensure that they check their Genotypes before getting married so as to avoid procreation of sickle cell victims who live to suffer the Pains of the ignorance of their parents.

The Association weren't alone in their sensitisation campaign, as their cries has reached out to various associations, and today, they were joined by women from Osodieme Divine Initiative, led by their president Lady Eunice Eze.

The women, who were clad in their colourful uniform of Gold and black marched together with members of the sickle cell association during the thanksgiving.

Speaking to press after the Mass, Lady Eunice said is was paramount for their association to identify with the sickle cell group, as their cause was worth a loud voice, and her association are out with all the support they can garner for the group, especially through the office of the wife of the Governor Chief Mrs. Ebelechukwu Obiano.

In the same vein of celebration and thanksgiving, one of the board members of the sickle cell association, Chief Sylvester Nwobu - Alor extended his fatherly care and magnanimity to the association. Throwing them to a lavish enjoyment of gift items to celebrate the Father's Sunday.

Speaking to the Press, Mr. Kennedy Okpara the Personal Assistant and representative of Chief Nwobu -Alor said although his principal had several engagements today, he still found time to celebrate with the association, and extends his hands of generosity to them, while urging them never to relent, as he would continue to give his best as the Patron of the association.

However, The Association presented several cash endowments to over 70 of her members. These endowments according to the Coordinator is part of the entitlements of the members from the Association, and today's presentation is expected to augment the empowerment of young farmers, artisan workers,graduates and entrepreneurs among the Association. The funds shall be released in batches until every member of the Association gets his or hers. It could come in form of bursaries for students or stipends for those working.

The Association thanked all those who have been supporting her evangelism, and urged them to do more as the sensitisation campaign continues. They however invite all her members to her monthly meeting on 27th of May 2016, at Vonic Hotels Resort Ekwulobia, where the owner of the hotel Chief Paulinus Mbamalu, has promised to host them to a lavish gathering.

Willie Obiano for making the Fathers Day A Memorable One, APLSCD finally flagged off the Grand preparation of their world Sickle Cell Day where she would be hosting participants from Enugu, Rivers, Adamawa and Kaduna. She Enjoins all corporate bodies to join their moving train to make the said day a Remarkable one in the SOUTH Eastern Region. They wished their beloved Catholic Fathers a Happy Father's Day.
