Gov. Ugwuanyi is God-sent for Enugu people – Gowon …former Head of State urges other governors to emulate Ugwuanyi

Former Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) says Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu state is truly God-sent for the people of the state in view of his general

disposition to people-oriented governance exemplified in the numerous achievements he has recorded within a short time in office.

The elder statesman who was in Enugu for a programme of his 'Nigeria Prays' charged church leaders and those in position of authority to be alive to their responsibilities for the unity and survival of the country.

He spoke at a one- day National Prayer rally network organized by 'Nigeria Prays',  prayer network for the South East zone at Grace of

God Mission Church, Owerri Road, Asata, Enugu on Sunday.

He noted that the rally with the theme 'Behold I set you over the nation which was drawn from the book of Jeremiah 1:10, was apt and

instituted for Nigerians to pray constantly and intensively for God's divine intervention so as to liberate them from their sins and shackle

of bondages.
The former Head of State explained that with the collective hands and kneels on deck for intensive prayers, God would surely proffer

amicable solutions to some of the lingering issues ravaging the economy of the country.

He observed that the socio-economic challenges in the country was responsible for the criminal and social vices and urged the leaders to create employment and be transparent in all they do.

Eulogizing  Governor Ugwuanyi whom he described as God sent to the state, he explained that following his numerous achievements in the areas of urban and rural road networks, health care delivery services,

education, security among others and his very amiable personality, the governor is outstanding .

The governor had on arrival of the former leader held banquet night in his honour during which the  governor noted that the National prayer rally had created opportunity for notable church leaders, clergies and personalities to pray as it concerned the country's ill-winds in the areas of terrorists and other caliber of criminals and hoodlums.

He explained that 'Nigeria prays, would go a long way to remind the people of the need to repent of their sins through sacrifices and

upholding the truth in their endeavours and thanked the organizers of the rally for their job well done.

Earlier, General Gowon had told the governor that Enugu State was chosen as the venue of the national prayer network rally for the South

East zone, following the conducive environment of the state in the areas of security and other infrastructural facilities.

Describing Enugu State as the contact point for the South East zone and Igbo race, General Gowon said that he was touched and felt over-

joyed with the accelerated rate of development embarked upon by Governor Ugwuanyi less than one year in office and urged other governors to emulate his style of leadership.
