The top 8 teams will qualify to the final and with five gymnasts in a team, three competing on each piece and all three scores counting, there is little margin for error. Gymnasts also have the individual goal of qualifying for apparatus finals on Sunday.

Reigning team champions Romania, led by new star Ana Porgras, will face tough competition from Russia who will be boosted by the superb performance of their junior team on Wednesday. Elsewhere Italy and France can be expected to push for a medal.
