Reps Summon Prisons Boss Over Security Aides’ Assault On House Member

BEVERLY HILLS, April 22, (THEWILL) – The Controller-General, C-G of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Dr. Peter Ezenwa Ekpendu has been summoned to appear before the House of Representatives after his security guards allegedly slapped a female lawmaker , Hon. Onyemeachi Mprakpor.

The 49-year Mrakpor said she was attacked for overtaking the convoy of the Prisons boss on Wednesday in the National Assembly premises with Ekpendu reportedly watching as the lawmaker was assaulted by his aides.

According to the petition presented by the Minority Leader, Hon. Leo Ogor, before the lower chamber at plenary on Thursday, Mkrakpor who represents Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency of Delta State, was driving out of the National Assembly when she made to overtake the 20- car convoy.

“They blocked her car, and started bashing her car. When she wound down the windows, an aide slapped her in the face. The CG sat in the comfort of his car while this happened,” Ogor narrated.

Ogor's report was corroborated by the Majority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, who said Mkrakpor had called him, crying, immediately the incident happened, adding that “this is the time we need to rally behind her not just as a member but as a woman”.
