Operation Resist Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) Unlawful Acts

It's no longer news, that BEDC go about harassing hapless electricity consumers with uniform police men under the guise of enforcing/collection of illegal tariff in edo state, Particularly Benin city. A court of competent jurisdiction has since restrain BEDC from imposing their new tariff on consumers.

To this end, we call on Edo people, to be inform of BEDC refusal to obey court order and comply with the National Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) rules and regulations.

NOCSON as one of the leading lights in Human Rights Advocacy is currently consulting with landlords & landladies, odionmweres, enigies, sisters civil societies, communities leaders, youths organizations, business organizations/bodies, and other concern stakeholders(electricity consumers) on collective means to resist BEDC Exploitative/capitalist mechanism of estimated billings, hike in tariff, poor services, refusal to disbursed pre-paid meter free of charge, inhuman harassment, intimidation and molestation of consumers amongst others.

We advice Edo People to as part of passive resistance and civil disobedience act as follows;

1. Lawfully resist BEDC unlawful intimidation, exploitative billings, etc at all time via petitions, complaints to appropriate authorities or any of the leading civil society organizations.

2. There should be intelligent phone recording or snapping of activities of BEDC and the policemen when they invade your house or business premises.

3. The names of the police officers & their ranks should be noted.

4. NOCSON emergency Hotline response unit below, should be called for any BEDC unlawful activities.
