America's popular actor. Daniel Glover, is expected in Nigeria soon as a special guest of the organisers of the maiden edition of African Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) billed for Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on April 29 and 30.

At a recent briefing on the awards, Peace Anyiam-Fiberesima, the chief executive officer of AMAA disclosed that Glover's visit will facilitate a working relationship between Nollywood and Hollywood since the acclaimed Hollywood actor is still active in his career since 1985 when he starred in Colour Purple at age 28. Significantly, Glover is expected to inspire filmmakers at the awards ceremony for which over 250 nominations have been received and out of which 22 will be awarded in different categories.

On the list of the screening panel for the maiden edition of AMAA are Amaka Igwe, a popular script writer, producer and director; Steve Ayorinde, journalist and film critic, Dorothy Winner; curator of the Berlin Film Festival, Ketth Shiri, author and curator as well as Hamida Suleiman, film curator who pioneered African magic (A channel devoted exclusively to Africa for Mnet)
In the words of Anyiam-Fiberesima, the awards which holds at Yenagoa, Bayelsa State on April 30 with Gala nite on April 29 is a reality based on the huge support by the state government and the anticipated hospitality by the people of Bayelsa.

According to the CEO of AMAA, the screening panel has so far screened 50 Nigerian films from other African countries. These are made up of respectable film practitioners and brought under one roof to adjudge the films. She hinted further that Bayelsa state, its people and natural environment are warming up to receive both local and international visitors for the event.
