ACNFA BACKS EX-FOOTBALLERS FOR NFF JOBS

The Alliance for Credible Nigerian Football Administrators has said it will back ex-footballers in standing for the forthcoming Nigeria Football Federation elections.

The group, with membership in Nigeria and abroad, said it would mobilise support and resources for any credible and competent ex-footballer willing to replace the outgoing members of the NFF board.

A statement from the body on Monday reads, 'We have decided to pool our resources to activate an alliance of like minds, strong and proactive enough to join forces with other progressive stakeholders, especially in football, to help give birth to a more purposeful leadership for the game of football in Nigeria.

'ACNFA strongly believes that the rot creeping into our football in all spheres of administration is endemic and systemic; the first crucial step that can promptly arrest and reverse the certain collapse is to initiate a new NFF board made up of credible, competent, visionary and astute administrators by August.'

ACNFA President Marcus Imoudu said one of the objectives of the body was to raise and sustain a collective voice in ensuring that the government does not interfere in the elections. He said the body would cooperate with state and local football associations to appoint credible candidates for the NFF
