SAN FRANCISCO, April 06, (THEWILL) – A former governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba said on Tuesday that two prominent traditional rulers in the state were instrumental to his return to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

He stated this in Abeokuta at the public presentation of a book authored by a leading politician, Chief Alani Bankole.

Osoba, who was the special guest of honour at the programme, acknowledged the mediatory roles played by the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, and the Awujale of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Adetona.

The former governor, who commended the two monarchs, described them as “bridge builders.''

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Osoba defected from APC to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) shortly before the 2015 general elections.

NAN also reports that national leaders and chieftains of APC on Sunday held a reconciliatory meeting with Osoba at his Ikoyi residence during which he announced his return to the party.

Osoba at Tuesday's forum described his absence from the party as “a period of leave of absence.”

“I am a founding father of the APC.”
“If I take a leave of absence from my own house, will I not return to my father’s house?”

“I am back in my father’s house,” he said.
