Benue: Only God Can Remove Me—Says Council Boss As Plot Thickens

Caretaker Chairman of Okpokwu local government, Mr George Adah has insisted that it will take something beyond mere human scheming to oust him from his position.

Mr Adah said this after a meeting held last Friday to force his resignation failed to yield any tangible result.

It was gathered that the Deputy Speaker of the state assembly, Hon. James Okefe, who also hails from Okpokwu, had summoned a meeting of executives and party leadership at the local government level and asked that a vote of no confidence be passed on the caretaker chairman.

The meeting held at Haf Haven hotel and chaired by the Special Adviser to the state Governor on Ethics and Orientation, Dr Godwin Idoko however ended without fruition when attendees refused to endorse the idea and walked out.

According to the Caretaker Chairman, he has been under pressure to settle some people with the monthly revenue allocation to his local government, adding that no amount of blackmail will yield any result in that regard.
