SAN FRANCISCO, March 30, (THEWILL) – The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has reacted to the misinterpretation of the state of affairs in the Imo State chapter of the party, clarifying that the local government and ward caretaker committees have not been dissolved by the party.

It noted that the committees are fully in charge of the ward and local government affairs of the party in the state and directed them to work with the Hon Vitalis Okafor-led State Caretaker Committee which it said is completely in charge of the affairs of the party at the State level and answerable to the National Working Committee.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Olisa Metuh, the NWC asserted that no other person or group except the Hon. Vitalis Okafor-led committee is authorized to handle the administration of the party at the State level.

The NWC warned that “any unauthorized interference by any person or group whatsoever in the running of the party in the state would be faced with strict disciplinary action by the NWC in accordance with the constitution of our great party.

“The NWC therefore urges all stakeholders and relevant organs of the party in the state to work together with the Hon. Vitalis Okafor-led Caretaker Committee in the general interest of the party in the state.”
