The Ondo State chapter of the Labour Party, LP, has announced its decision not to participate in the forthcoming local government elections scheduled for April 23, 2016.

The party’s displeasure was also evident as it warned Governor Olusegun Mimiko against creating crisis in the party with a view to dividing it in the state.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday in Akure by the state secretary of the party, Ronke Akerele, the party urged the governor to channel his energy to the task of governing the state at this critical period rather than meddling in the affairs of the party.

The party also appealed to Governor Mimiko to keep off the party and stop controlling it through the use of some impostors who had been speaking on behalf of the party.

“Our attention has been drawn to the plan of the governor to keep parading fifth columnists as self-styled members of the party for selfish interest. We hereby state clearly that anyone who is not known to the party.
