Journalist accuses MD of running Government owned Media like personal estate

The state chapel of Adamawa press limited (APL) of Nigerian Union of Journalist (NUJ) accused the General Manager of running the company as his personal estate without recourse to official procedures.

In view of that they conveyed a Congress chaired by the chairman of the chapel, Muhammed Bello and signed by more than 2/3 of the members:

Advising the Government for the interest of general public to redefine the status of the Adamawa Press Limited as a limited liability company or state corporation to allow it function effectively being the only state owned newspaper that's covering the whole North- Eastern region.

They are Also advising the Government to restrict media related appointments to only professional journalist to avoid the scope experience bad experience under the Current leadership

"We are worried that the situation of the company is further deterioting due to maladministration and high handedness of the Chief Executive of the company owing to the fact that virtually all the actions and decisions of the General Manager are not products of management decision. He has no respect the principles of separation of power or the existence of a management body in the company". They said

" He posts,engages and removes staff at Will,He frustrate editorial policies and performance of the editorial department, He has no any significant achievement in spite of the monthly collection running cost and media funds,the income generated by the company."

Another source who pleaded to remain privy revealed that the General Manager,Saidu Hassan Modibbo is always dancing to the rhythms and tunes of the Secretary to the state Government (SSG) in other to maintain their last lasting friendship.

All effort to reach the APL's MD and the publisher of "the scope" Newspaper resulted to a fruitless ventures as all calls put through his lines were not answering and all visit to his office is without success.
