Overview: On 27th and 28th of August this year, the first ever Tokyo International Conference on African Development (TICAD) in African continent will be held in Nairobi. Since its start, TICAD has always put its importance on Capacity Development.

In the Symposium on Capacity Building in Sustainable Resource Development in Africa, Akita University, together with African universities will share its experiences in 'KIZUNA project' and their cooperation. This Symposium aims to provide the platform to discuss and consider the development of human resources in sustainable resource development by referring to Japan's experiences especially in relations with TICAD, ABE-initiative and 'KIZUNA' project.

* 'KIZUNA' project which aims to develop sustainable mining development in Africa, was launched by Japan. This program offers a chance to study in Master's program and work in Japanese companies, universities and public institutions on internship. 7 Japanese universities specializing in Mining are accepting African students.
