Rivers State Re-run Updates

Distribution of electoral materials commenced across Rivers State. In Obio/Akpor LGA, a slight disturbance between the security forces and suspected PDP party members was noticed at about 6:30 am this morning.

A man was caught with knives. He has been handed over to the police. One Bright Amaewhule, was seen shouting at the uniformed Police officers mounting the RAC entrance. Bright was later accosted at Rumuokwuta junctions by security agents.

In Bonny LGA, there are growing threats against INEC officials in Ward 7. No presence of security men in sight. Some political thugs are heard shouting: "election will not hold, we go meet for village."

In Khana LGA, Ward 18 precisely, there is no sign of Police presence. Party agents are still waiting for INEC to arrive. The atmosphere is generally calm. Ward 1 is also calm. Agents waiting for INEC to arrive.

There are reports of armed young men walking freely in Kalabiama, in Opobo/Nkoro LGA. Security. Agents have been notified and we expect their quick intervention.

In Tai LGA, 30 political thugs were arrested by 1am this morning following a tip off by members of the public they have been handed over to the police.
