Rivers: Inec Suspends Elections In Six Lgas Over Violence
SAN FRANCISCO, March 19, (THEWILL) – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended elections in six local government areas of Rivers State following electoral violence in the areas during the re-run of elections into the federal and state legislatures Saturday.
The affected local governments according to Mr. Aniedi Ikoikwak, INEC's Resident Electoral Commissioner, are Andoni, Bonny, Gokana, Khana, Eleme and Tai.
Elections were conducted in the other local governments and results are still being collated. INEC said it would communicate a new date to conduct the suspended polls.
