Workers in Enugu State, under the auspices of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), have lent their support to Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi's economic revolution agenda aimed at job creation and boosting of the state's revenue.

The Congress through a statement signed by its state Chairman and Secretary, Comrade Igbokwe Chukwuma Igbokwe and Comrade Benneth Asogwa commended Gov. Ugwuanyi for reconstituting the committees on Enugu State Council on Commercialization and Privatization and the Enugu State Technical Committee on Privatization and Commercialization saddled with the responsibility of revitalizing ailing state government-owned enterprises, saying that it is a right decision in a right direction.

TUC also noted that the governor's bold initiative was a demonstration of 'his zeal and commitment towards job creation, industrial development and improved revenue for the state'.

The congress equally applauded the forthcoming Enugu International Investment Summit organized by the state government to showcase its rich business potentials to the world, stressing that the economic programme was timely and expedient considering the drastic effects of the economic meltdown in the country.

According to the workers, 'a summit that will attract huge foreign and local investors is what is needed to reposition the state as the prime state of the south-east.'

They therefore called on the governor to partner with all the relevant stakeholders and utilize the government machineries to realize his administration's laudable economic initiatives that would boost the economy of the state and provide direct and indirect employment to the teeming unemployed youths in the state as well as make Enugu an industrialized state.
