Soldiers have allegedly manhandled the District Head of Gulak, Muhammadu Bello Ijadi Sumda on Saturday.

Eye witnesses told our correspondent that the ‎soldiers had molested some civilians an hour before the curfew time which is 6 pm, a development that attracted the attention of the district head who pleaded with the soldiers to exercise restraint.

Instead of reasoning with the ‎traditional ruler, the soldiers pounced on him, kicking him and beating him until he lay flat, a development that angered his subjects who challenged the soldiers in protest.

It took the intervention of the district head and community elders to calm the situation which could have turned violent.

An aide to the District Head confirmed the incident‎, saying he believed the soldiers acted on orders because they knew his position and yet attacked him.
