SAN FRANCISCO, March 08, (THEWILL) – The Edo State House of Assembly has adjourned sine die following rowdiness that characterized its plenary session.

THEWILL reports that the lawmakers had on Monday adjourned plenary abruptly over what the speaker of the House described as, the “mood of the House” to Tuesday.

It was learnt that the lawmakers were aggrieved by the failure of the governor to provide them with brand new vehicles, non-payment of allowances, other financial entitlements, and incentives, among others.

On Tuesday in Benin City, Ojo Asein (APC), representing Owan West, moved the motion for the House to adjourn “Sine die” and was seconded by Festus Edughele (APC), Esan South-East constituency.

Following the mood of the lawmakers, the speaker, Victor Edoror, adjourned plenary, but however over ruled the sine die adjournment motion moved by Asien, and announced an adjournment for two weeks.

Addressing newsmen immediately after the incident, the speaker expressed disappointment over the development, saying he was taken unaware by the incident, as members would however converge on an undisclosed location for an executive session, to iron out issues that might have ignited the incident.

“We are heading for an executive session to find out their grievances and resolve the crisis. I believe that the issues are resolvable,” he said.
