Community Social Service In Times Like These: The Example Of Hon. Marafa Ahmed Guni
Growth and Development, they say, does not come by accident but by practical and deliberate design by Public Servants, Private Individuals, Philanthropists, and Society’s Well Wishers. But, given the pedigree of the member representing Chanchanga Constituency at the Niger State House of Assembly, Hon. Marafa Ahmed Guni, who doubles as the Honourable Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly as well, Chairman Northern Nigeria Speakers Conference, it is a RESPONSIBILITY.
The significance of the event captured the attendance of, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello, the Governor of Niger State as the Special Guest of Honour, the Royal father of the day, his royal highness’, the Emir of Minna, Dr. Umar Farouk Bahago who the Indegin Minna, Alhaji Aliyu stood in for, there was, Rt. Hon. Kabiru Alhassan Rurum, the Guest of Honour, the lone lady on the high table, the Commissioner of Education, Hajiya Fatima Madugu. There was, Engr. Yusuf inuwa Fuka, the Executive Chairman of Chanchaga as the Chief Host.
There was, also, the Niger State Honourable Commissioner of Health and Health Services, Dr. Mustapha Jibril, the Co-host of the remarkable event. Amidst Cheers and loud ovation from Chanchaga constituents, the Gidan Matasa Venue along Okada Road, Minna was filled to capacity on Saturday, 27th February, 2016. It was the Official Launching of Hon. Marafa’s COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMME to support Youths, Women, People with disability, Children and those affected by the recent Fire Inferno at Kure Ultra Modern Market in Minna.
Addressing Chanchaga-lites, Hon. Yusuf Inuwa Fuka, the Executive Chairman of Chanchaga Local Government who played Chief Host, described the event as “Epoch making event and a new beginning in Chanchaga championed by the true representative of the people”. He further stated that, he is proud to be associated with such a progressive gesture laid by the Hon. Speaker while enjoining Chanchaga-lites, irrespective of their Political affiliation to render their maximum cooperation towards making Chanchaga and the State at large work for all.
Delivering his speech, Hon. Marafa’s counterpart from Kano State House of Assembly, Hon. Rurum gave all praise and glory to Almighty Allah, the beneficent, the merciful who has endowed humanity with diverse opportunities’ that are beneficial to the entire human race. He added that, he has full confidence that Mr. Governor; Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello will drive Niger State to greatness which can be achieved, if Nigerlites, especially the Youths render their total support, prayers and patience. Hon. Rurum further stated that, the beneficiaries of such a noble advocacy should do their best to utilize such an opportunity to become self reliant and productive.
The Special Guest of Honour, Alhaji Abubakar Sani Bello lauded the legislative czar’s humanitarian initiative while expressing his administration’s readiness and willingness to support noble courses championed for the interest of Nigerlites while urging other members of the Niger State House of Assembly to emulate Hon. Marafa’s audacity of Community Service.
No doubt, COMMUNITY SOCIAL SERVICE IN TIMES LIKE THESE will go a long way, in panel beating the mind-set of our teeming Youths into productive members of the society, which in turn, will help define their directions in life as well reborn their thoughts about success while taking cognizance of their significant role in society’s growth and development, thereby, stamping out idleness from their beings. The timeliness of the event is almost perfect, considering the measures enacted to diversify Nigeria’s economy from oil to other sectors.
