Naira Devaluation: People Living In Adamawa Blame Government For Insensitivity

The life of law income earners has been pushed to a serious hard economy jeopardy as a result of Naira rate in exchange of a Dollar. This huge differences of America currency exchange rate is badly dealing and having a bedevilling effect to the country's economy.

Scores of people living in Adamawa shift blames to both the previous Government and present Governments of insensitive to the pleas of people whose take home pay is nothing to write home about.

Early this year consumable products and goods prices keep on sky-rocketing, scorching badly to those I call the " have not", those livelihood depends on the stability and balance economy to survive.

Going round the streets of Jimeta and Yola towns of Adamawa state our correspondent have a special report of the degrading standard of living caused by the recent economy retrogression, all the respondents shifted blames on both the present and past Governments of insensitivity to the suffering of the general masses.

A kolanut vendor, Mallam Abubakar Aliyu who was seen hawking an almost empty tray of the Kolanut said Government are not even ready to address the issues that concern any "Talakawas" (Common people). He went to memory lane during the administration of the military administrations and to civilian rules that there has not been any President that was too careful to the country's economy. According to him all the past Governments were or don't even have a good policy over price control.

Aliyu argue that it's only when the economy is effectively favorable to all low income earners with a very good policy on the prices control of all consumables goods and products in the country that they can be boast of eating three square meals in a day.

According to him the economy mishaps had inflicted untold hardships to him and many less privileged people living in the country. He laments that his seven children who are all dependents have resorted to begging in the streets of Jimeta and Yola.

"I and entire House hold we have virtually became baggers, imagine me that I have a business with a capital of 30 thousand naira now my capital is not up to 2,500 thousands naira, worse of it the patronage is very poor". He said

He cried on how the appreciation of Dollars over the naira is virtually affecting every bit of the economy as there has been 100% rises of prices of almost every commodity.

A popularly Food vendor in Jimeta round about, Maman Ali complain of poor patronage since ending last year to this year whereby her selling points that use to be crowded with all set of people throughout the day, the place is now a deserted place.

Maman Ali who managed to communicate with pigin English said is like the economy is even affecting every body judging from turning over of her business which attracts Government officials, Bankers, Business men and many other people.

"As you can see you met me sitting down less busy, if it were before this place is use to be crowded as you can think and as noisy as a market, as like the people fly to some were else. No body is coming around, and if ask every body will tell me it's Dollar that's beating Naira".

"I think the government should do something fast if other wise there will be more crisis in the economy, imagine you have a family and they all depending on you for a living and you are not forth taken care of them, you may be tempted to go and still or do something strange to survive". Maman Ali said

Mr Joshua Tambo is a Fisher Man paddling the River Gongola equally complained how his commodities prices in the market have skyrocketed without a corresponding increase in personal take home pay, most especially to people like them doing a personal business to survive.

Joshua said when the economy was good he do have a turn over of over 50 thousand naira in a month, but now he only fished for storage as nobody will buy, even if they come to buy they bargain the price in a very cheap price while if they will buy anything in the market they will pay a very exorbitant price.

Joshua blame the Government of being indifferent and insensitive to must have allow the problem to linker up to this time.

A try cycle commercialist,Ibrahim Ahmadu whose is a low income earners whose take up home pay is not up to 1,500 daily before the falling of the Naira,narrowed down his worries to the fall of petroleum products and wish the government will device other means of balancing up the huge gap created by depending on the products as the only live wire of the country's economy.

But now because of the harsh economy he hardly gets 500 hundred naira in a day, which is not enough to take care of his wife and three kids.

Ibrahim said if the government did not do the most needed economy arithmetics sooner or later Nigeria currency will just be like a tissue paper in the international market and the eyes of many people.

"A fall of petroleum products in the international market is what generate to our harsh economy, for the simple fact that the country's past government did not utilize the all the much profits generated when the petroleum market was favorable". Ibrahim said

The present Government is into serious financial predicaments according to New Financial times of 12th February, Year if other sector of the economy is not urgently revive.
