SAN FRANCISCO, March 02, (THEWILL) – The embattled National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Ali Modu Sheriff, has announced some appointments in his capacity.

Sheriff announced the appointment of Inusa Mohammed as his Principal Secretary on Wednesday.

A statement by the National Secretary of the party, Adewale Oladipo, also added that the party's leadership had approved the appointment of Uche Nnaji as the Political Adviser to Sheriff, while an ex-Senator, Saidu Kumo, was appointed as the Special Adviser on National Assembly Relations.

The statement added that another former Senator, Ighoyota Amori, was appointed as the Special Adviser, Reconciliation and Conflict Management.

“The appointments take immediate effect,” the statement said.

Sheriff was appointed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the People's Democratic Party in its 68th meeting following series of intrigues and horse-trading.

However, some prominent members of the party, including governors, ex-ministers, ‎senators and members of the House of Representatives have kicked against it leading to a major crisis in the party.
