By Ben Atu

As the battle to succeed governor Adams Oshiomhole continues, a front line governorship aspirant in the state Mr. Godwin Obaseki has describe the deputy chief whip of the senate and Senator representing Edo North Senator Francis Alimikhena as a powerful political weapon in the hands of the All Progressive Congress (APC). As a weapon in the hands of a mighty man, so is Alimikhena at the national and the state level of our party.

He stresses that the formation of the 8th National Assembly would not have been complete without senator Alimikhena who break an unusual record to emerge as the only APC senator in the South-South and South-East senatorial zone. As a team player and a performer, the governorship aspirant describes the position of senator Alimikhena as a B.O.T member of the APC and the only APC senator in Edo State as strategic

. In his few month of service at the national Assembly, Senator Alimikhena has sponsor the most celebrated and people oriented motion on the ban on Nigeria Agricultural product by European Union as well as the Bill on disable people in the society.

Obaseki who spoke in Ageneode Etsako East Local Government Area of Edo State during a get together by a social club in Honor of Senator Alimikhena, express gratitude to the government and people of Edo State for their effort in redeeming the fleeing glory of the state despite the intimidation, threat and blackmail from the opposition. He stress the need to build on the developmental effort of Governor Adams Oshiomhole saying that the state cannot afford to take the risk of retuning Edo back to the hands of king Pharaoh who were cluck in the wheel of the progress of the state during their reign. Obaseki called on the people of the state not to be distracted by political merchant who are more interested in selling their political wares of doom and destruction rather than fashioning ways of improving the lots of the people. As a people, Obaseki said we have a sacred duty to free our state from rivalries, ethnic conflicts and division. Our collective effort for a better Edo will continue to bind us together as one large family. He appeals to stakeholders in the Edo project to renew their commitment and be firm in their conviction that democracy is fundamental to achieving the requisite stability that will enable the realization of the needed change.

Speaking on the forth coming governorship election, Obaseki said the state cannot afford to return back to the days of bondage where the state was deprived from the dividend of democracy. Edo State needs a well-focused manager who has the interest of the state at heart; someone who is administratively skillful; someone who will deliver. The aspirant gave background into his various areas of service to the nation and the state that made him possesses the ability, courage, sincerity and guiding philosophy to provide the right leadership for the betterment of the people as a stickler for hard work and excellence”.
