Kano State set to partner multinationals on youth empowerment

Kano State government has said that it has planed to partner multinational companies to drive its youth empowerment programmes.

This was disclosed by the Director General, Kano State Directorate of Youth Development and Economic Empowerment, Ado Abba Tudunwada during a press briefing in Kano.

According to him, the State Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has given the directorate approval to scout for multinationals that are willing to enhance the state’s efforts of empowering the youths for productivity and economic growth.

He noted that government alone cannot provide all the required jobs, saying there is need for intervention from the private sector to enhance youth development.

The Director-General said that the multinational companies approached have shown commitment to the idea, adding that one of these companies has agreed to train 880 youths, 20 from each of the 44 local governments of the state.

He said that more multinationals are also willing to cue into the state youth empowerment initiatives .

On the state governor’s directive we have been in contact with these multinational companies and we were able to secure commitments from most of them, already one of the Nigerian telecommunication company agreed to train 880 youths, 20 from each of the 44 local governments of the state.

This is indeed a positive development and we are optimistic that more multinationals will do same, the DG said.
