Suspended Adamawa Assembly Lawmaker To Know Fate On Tuesday

Adamawa State House of Assembly is to decide on the fate of its suspended member,Hon Abdulrahman Abubakar representing Mubi South Constituency.

The House Committee chairman on Information, Hon Hassan Barguma made this known in an interview in Yola.

Barguma who confirmed the house receipt of the lawmaker's letter of apology through the Clerk of the house said the lawmaker must withdraw all petitions against the house.

Barguma said that the lawmaker would appear before the whole house on Tuesday where he would be expected to formally tender his apology alongside meeting conditions such as withdrawal of a pending court case against the house.

"He is also expected to withdraw a petition against the house he wrote to EFCC alongside swearing to an affidavit to conduct himself as a lawmaker." Barguma said.

Barguma said that it was at the Tuesday plenary that a final decision on the lawmaker would be taken.

Meanwhile, Abubakar had in a statement last week apologized to the house with a promised not to go against the house anymore.

``I, hereby, wish to formally tender my apology to the Speaker, Mr Kabiru Mijinyawa, leadership and entire hounourable members of Adamawa State House of Assembly.

``My sincere unreserved apology goes to the Executive Governor of Adamawa state, Sen. Mohammadu Jibrilla, the leadership and members of our great party, the APC and my constituents for what happened.

``I want to state categorically that I hold no grudge against anyone. I believe in the fact that the best teacher is one's last mistake.

``I accepted my mistake and promised that such incident will not happen again,’’ Abubakar said.

Abubakar was suspended in November last year for improper dressing and criticizing the house approval of virement for the executive in 2015 budget.
