PDP distances self from fake online registration portal

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has disassociated itself from a fake online portal opened in the name of the party.

This was contained in a statement signed by Mr Richard Ihediwa, Special Assistant to the party's National Publicity Secretary, Mr Olisa Metuh, on Saturday in Abuja.

It stated that the fake online portal: www.pdpmembership.org/register; was demanding Nigerians to register as members of PDP through an electronically guided form.

'The PDP states categorically that this online portal does not belong to it; is not associated to it, and has nothing to do with it at any level and in anyway whatsoever.

'For the avoidance of doubt, the PDP has not commenced its proposed online registration of members,' the statement said.

It added that the party would adequately and officially inform the public through its relevant organs once it was ready for such.

It therefore cautioned all PDP members, supporters and the general public not patronise the fake online registration portal set up by fraudsters to dupe the unsuspecting public.

It stated that the party's leadership has contacted relevant security agencies for a comprehensive investigation to unravel those behind the criminal act.
