SAN FRANCISCO, February 21, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has named Globacom as subscribers' preferred choice for internet services, a few weeks after naming it as the leader in new internet subscriber acquisition in the telecoms industry.

In a report on its website, NCC had indicated that Globacom gained the highest number of internet users in September of 2015, with over a million new internet users on its network, from 20,765,379 data users in August to 21,896,229 data users the following month.

In the new statistics published by NCC, an analysis of the internet subscriptions of the four major service providers for the last quarter of 2015 show that Globacom has strengthened its position as the leader in new data subscriber acquisition.

According to the data, Globacom recorded an increase in its internet subscriber base in the last quarter of 2015, with 23,285,454 internet users in October, 24,952,559 in November and 25,082,066 in December, which is an addition of 3,200,000 new internet subscribers in the quarter.

Globacom had announced, a year ago, that it was significantly upgrading its data network to be supported by the company's extensive nationwide optic fibre infrastructure which is linked to its Glo 1 submarine cable that connects Nigeria to Europe, America and the rest of the world.

The network also offered several attractive and affordable internet packages meant to appeal to data users including Free Tomorrow, Bumper Data Offer, Campus Booster and the Twin Bash promo.

Other data plans launched by Globacom to win the affection of data subscribers includes the Free Weekend and Free Night packages.
