Gunmen Kidnap Former President Jonathan’s Foster Father

SAN FRANCISCO, February 17, (THEWILL) – Some yet-to-be identified gunmen have kidnapped 72-year-old foster father of former President Goodluck Jonathan, whose name was given as Inengite Nitabai.

The seven-man gang on Wednesday abducted the septuagenarian from his country's home in Otuoke, Ogbia Local Government Area of Bayelsa State.

It was gathered that the abductors collected about N40,000 from the victim's family members before whisking away the 72-year-old in his Sport Utility Vehicle, SUV. As at press time, they are yet to make any contact with the family to demand for ransom.

The incident was later confirmed to journalists in Yenagoa, the state capital, by the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Asinim Butswat.

“A massive manhunt has been launched by a combined team of Marine Police and Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, to rescue the victim and arrest the abductors. Investigation is ongoing,” Butswat stated.
