By Agbanashi Obinne

It was in September, 2015, during his 'thank you' tour after elections, that the Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi, opened a Chanel of discussion and consultations with opinion leaders of the pressing needs of the people and also carried out critical needs assessment of the area.

After the tour that season, the Deputy Speaker revealed that politicians and appointed office holders have no reason what so ever not to empower the people and transform their fortune.

He declared this equivocally and further added that the needs of the people, though insatiable by man, but something must be done to effect a change. On his part as a representative of one of the poorly developed area of Delta State, he vowed to go extra mile to leave an indelible mark in Ndokwa East.

Points of urgent needs identified after consultations were, human empowerment/job opportunities, human capital development/ Education, roads, electricity and other social amenities.

Amongst these, the Deputy Speaker has identified human empowerment and education as areas of emergency, while other aspect of development are also given accelerated attention simultaneously.

As it concerns human empowerment, he has single handedly engaged over 80 young people working directly with him, he still influences the appointment of many into political and other civil offices, especially in the oil and gas sector. He has employed high powered dialogue with Oil companies around the area to extend electric power to some communities in Ndokwa East and still putting one to two, to enhance its extension to other part of Ndokwa nation.

After due consultation it became paramount that government needed to be supported in constructing classrooms and providing other material support for education to strive in Ndokwa nation and Delta at large. Not erecting the structures in the secondary and primary schools in the area alone, but also sponsoring the economically weak tertiary education students to compete favorably in the campuses and also providing a financial package in form of scholarship that will enable them not just to read, but to study and come out with good grades- the yardstick for continual beneficiary.

Osanebi, through his foundation, The Friday Osanebi Foundation is set to communicate hope to intelligent and humble indigent anioma students in our various tertiary institution of learning. Already the exams and screening test has been taken for this year's undergraduate scholarship scheme for anioma students of 100 level and according to reports from the foundation, all is set to give out the first tranche of the undergraduate scholarship to sixty (60) successful candidates.

All these were some of the promises he made during the 'thank you tour'. He also said that he will be constructing schools in the various wards of the local government to enhance the speedy actualization of the dream of raising Giants in various spheres of human endeavor via quality education. To that effect, the Deputy Speaker immediately sprang into action to enhance speedy manifestation. With or with funds for constituency project, passion for development has indeed emboldened him to do the needful for his people.

Umueze primary school,Ossisa, Iselegu Primary School, Niger primary school, Asaba -Ase, Ibrede Secondary School, Mixed Secondary School Okpai, Aboh Grammar School, Aboh; are some of the schools passing through the transformation touch of the Empowerment Master at press time.
