In Pursuit Of Generating Greater Value PHCCIMA President Leads Business Delegation To Notore Chemicals

Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, PHCCIMA has continued to intensify efforts towards generating greater value for its membership and the state by building synergies that will increase networking and co-operation among industries operating in Rivers state.

This was the point of emphasis as President of Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce; Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji led executives and elected council members of PHCCIMA on a business delegation to the Notore Chemicals Limited.

In his remark to management of the company the PHCCIMA helmsman stressed the need to restructure and help stabilize industries operating in the state to enhance optimal operation that will have a holistic effect on the economic fortunes of the state.

He reiterated the importance of networking among the strategic industries, emphasizing the need for such collaborations to enhance the quality of production that will ensure a benchmark of international set standard for products and services emanating from the state.

Dr. Membere-Otaji had also during the visit told Notore management of an upcoming in-house magazine called ‘Commerce Port Harcourt’, an initiative of the new administration of Port Harcourt chamber of Commerce. He said the magazine is a non-profit business support and networking platform seeking to inform and inspire brands to maximize local and international opportunities. “The quarterly publication would provide vital information that will strategically stimulate the local economy and woo investors to Rivers state” he said, adding that Commerce Port Harcourt is expected to find its way into every strategic institution, embassies, and airlines among others across the globe while opening new vistas for PHCCIMA to help more businesses rise to the top.

“As part of our organizations objective, we are committed to ensuring that businesses thrive. Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce is also dedicated to advancing collaborations, expanding frontiers of networking and promoting strategic partnerships that will place us in global perspective.

Speaking on the effect of falling oil prices, he said the FG, states and local governments have to work closely with the private sector to spike the economy. They have to take steps and give direction to stimulate the economy and this is very possible as we have land for agric, many rivers, ocean, fish, solid minerals, etc.

In his response the Head of Projects Notore Chemicals, Mr. Agagu Bode after churning out a brief profile of the company, explained that Notore Chemicals Company deals exclusively on fertilizer, chemicals and integrated power production for domestic and commercial consumption.

He however lamented the rising spate of criminal activities in the state in the form of pipeline vandalization, kidnapping among others urging the PHCCIMA delegation to use their closeness to the seat of power including their status as the mouthpiece of the organized private sector to prevail on government to bring this to a halt.

In his further response, the President of PHCCIMA Dr. Emi Membere-Otaji commended the management of Notore Chemical Company for their consistency in production and the growth of the Company after a long period of inactivity, and asserted that the Champion of Green Revolution would be a catalyst for the diversification of the Nigeria Economy. He also assured them that PHCCIMA will liaise with the relevant authorities and government to ensure that the issue of insecurity is tackled.
