On the 4th of February 2016, H.E. Mrs. Toyin Saraki, Founder/President of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA) and Wife of the Nigerian Senate President, joined H.E. Mrs. Aisha Buhari – Wife of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, to flag off Maternal Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) Week in Kebbi State, Nigeria; as well as empower expectant and newly delivered mothers with health-seeking incentives.

During the launch, Mrs. Saraki donated Mama Kit Goody Bags, containing items such as antiseptic solutions, soaps, navel clamps, Unilever Camay brand personal care products, and other essential items useful for the safe delivery and care of mothers and their newborn babies. The Foundation also donated breast-feeding manuals, for the nutritional education and information of expectant and newly delivered mothers.

Flagging off the Kebbi State MNCH week, the Wife of the President, H.E. Mrs. Buhari, called for more efforts to be made in the fight against preventable diseases affecting women and children. While in Kebbi, Mrs. Buhari also commissioned the Maternal and Child Health Centre, Birnin Yari, Jega, which serves as a model for all primary healthcare centres (PHCs) in the state; and the Jega General Hospital.

According to the Kebbi state governor, H.E. Mrs Saraki, who also serves as Global Goodwill Ambassador to the International Confederation of Midwives has assured Governor Bagudu and his wife, Dr Zainab Bagudu, of the continued support of WBFA, in bringing key "Skills and Drills" training for midwives, and the innovative WBFA Personal Health records, demand-creation for vital civil registrations and accountability in health services provision tools to enhance impactful programmes and projects to Kebbi State.
