The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Igbo Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State, Mr Malachy Agbo, has directed that all letters of identification, registration, and other such documents emanating from the local council should henceforth be issued only by the office of the Director of Personnel Management (DPM).

The directive which has already taken effect is in line with the new administration's determination to conduct its affairs efficiently as well as enthrone order and discipline with regards to the conduct of certain administrative activities of the council, especially those that could boost its revenue profile.

Members of the public requiring the documents will now have to pay the approved sum into the council's account with the Union Bank and proceed with the teller to have the letters issued and signed only by the authorized personnel.

Previously, almost any senior officer issued the letters which led to poor document tracking and accountability.

The Chairman emphasized that since there was a greater need to strengthen the revenue base of the council considering the general paucity of funds plaguing government across all levels in the country, it was thus imperative to take such measures that could stop possible leakages and at the same time promote order and discipline in offering premium services to members of the public.

According to Agbo, the new move would engender the confidence and support of the people when they realized that what they paid actually ended up in government coffers.
