Foreign Minister Steinmeier on the formation of a government in Libya

Foreign Minister Steinmeier issued the following statement on the formation of a government of national unity in Libya at a press conference with the TunisianForeign Minister at the Federal Foreign Office on 19January:

I welcome the fact that, after prolonged efforts, a cabinet list was agreed on this morning for the new government of national unity in Libya. This is a further step on a long road. Now we must hope—and we are working with all the tools at our disposal to achieve this—that this cabinet list will also be approved by the parliament. Then the conditions would be in place to allow a government of national unity, actually on Libyan soil, to take the reins of power.
