Don Pedro Aganbi Set To Host Internet Of Things Summit

The annual prestigious Nigeria ICT Youth Summit is scheduled to hold on march 3rd at the Indoor Sports Hall of the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos with the theme The Internet of Things.

Don Pedro Aganbi, convener of the Nigeria ICT Youth Summit noted in a chat with news men in Lagos, that “THE Internet of Things (IoT) is opening up a world of real opportunities and rapidly transforming communities, cities and the daily lives of people worldwide. Today, the Internet of Things encompasses more than 14 billion things connected to the Internet”.

Speaking further, he stated that “The theme of this year’s Summit The Internet of Things will focus largely on issues that motivate and encourage millions of young people to take refuge in the ICT profession as the bedrock of national development. “The rapid advancement and ubiquitous penetration of mobile network, web based information creation and sharing, and software defined networking technology have been enabling sensing, predicting and controlling of physical world with information technology.

Every business process can be empowered, and therefore, various industries redesign their business models and processes along Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm. To maximize the social and economic benefit of the technology, issues of interoperability, mashing up data, developing open platforms and standardization across technology layers have to be addressed” Aganbi posited.

The forum is expected to be chaired by Prof. Umaru Dambatta, Executive Vice Chairman, Nigeria Communications Commission (NCC) while Femi Adesina, Special Adviser Media and Publicity to president Muhammadu Buhari and Juliet Ehimuan, country manager of google Nigeria are expected to deliver the keynote Address

He said that the Nigeria ICT Summit will go a long way not just to boost awareness of how the Internet of Things will change the economic landscape but also the key players/operators making the investments that is precipitating this change. The summit will afford participating firms and individuals ample opportunities to reveal the extent of their investment in Nigeria and the highlight the urgent need to actively protect and indeed promote further investment.

The ICT enthusiast noted that the conference would also be a veritable platform for government to present its plans and policies for encouraging operators, while expanding and deepening the activities in the sector. In addition it is a great opportunity for networking and forging strategic partnerships amongst key stakeholders in the sector.
